Snow and sneezes or sun and sandy beaches? Vicky and I are looking forward to spring! Just as in life we can allow the circumstances around us to steal the joy from our lives or we can look beyond and experience the warmth of God's presence. Pastor Jim

“What a fellowship what a joy divine leaning on the everlasting arms” of Jesus! This past Sunday reminded me of this great hymn. We had 141 in the morning service and had a good number Sunday evening for our joint service at Brantwood Baptist Church as we celebrated four new believers being baptized and becoming members of our church.

I am so blessed by the faithfulness of our members. I know it has been a great sacrifice the last five months for many of you but you have truly honored our Savior by not only being faithful in attendance but also many of you are bringing family and friends with you.

As you may know Vicky and I will be away for two weeks. I am looking forward to the Pastor’s conference this next week in Jacksonville. I have wanted to attend this conference for years but it just never has worked out and also a vacation week following the conference but there is a big part of me that hates to leave at this time! We will truly miss you and will pray for you while we’re away. Duane Flora will be preaching on January 31 and Gary Odom on February 7. Ray Deck will lead the Wednesday AM Bible study and Jack Hines the PM study on February 3.  I am confident these godly men will bless you.

Pray for us that God will refresh our spirits and fill us with wisdom and insight that when we return God may use us to lead our church to continue moving forward, bringing men, women, boys and girls to Christ! The second verse of the song above says “Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way…Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day, leaning on the everlasting arms". My desire for each of you is that each day your walk with Christ becomes sweeter and brighter and that together we may experience the strength and comfort of that comes from leaning on the everlasting arms of Jesus.

January 17, 2010 Sermon

What are you expecting this year? What have you asked for? What if you could get whatever you wanted? The Bible says "to whom much is given much shall be required". If God gave us what we asked for would we honor Him with it or would we waste it with riotous living? This Sunday Pastor Jim will share a message titled "YOU DIDN'T ASK", the power and responsibility of asking.
